GMax Academy offers training in Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Kickboxing
and Gymnastics, on a one-to-one, group or class basis. Our coaches
are available for private tuition, ongoing classes, seminars and consultancy.
Why martial arts?
In addition to the fitness benefits, martial arts training helps improve self-confidence, co-ordination and discipline, and through the regular practice and recall of techniques and routines, will also exercise the mind. Using a “Belt-System” syllabus, training is continually progressive and benchmarked. And most obviously, you will be learning self defence skills. If you are going to do all those push-ups and sit-ups, you may as well learn a useful skill too!

- GMax Coaches have a foundation in gymnastics and boxing coaching with an extensive knowledge of strength, flexibility and fitness training, as well as being well versed in sports nutrition and psychology.
- Gymnastics is widely recognised as the most demanding sport to coach. It was originally developed over 2000 years ago by the ancient Chinese, Greek and Roman armies, to strengthen their soldiers. Gymnastic skills are still used today in modern army training. Gymnastics-based conditioning will make you a very fit and very strong individual.
- GMax classes, whilst developing respect and self-discipline, are informal, friendly and fun.
- Learning the proper mechanics of punching, kicking and movement, burns lots of calories and along with learning how to hold the pads and use equipment properly, reduces the risks of training injuries.
- Gradings are not compulsory for Kickboxing students who just wish to enjoy the fitness benefits of the sport.
- GMax Academy founder and Professional Gymnastics Coach, Glen Stanway, is in regular contact with his Master, the renowned and respected Master Teng Wie Yoo, coach to many Asian, International and World Champions. Glen is the author
of "The Art of Coaching" and "Fearless The Story of Chin Woo Kung Fu".
- GMax Adult Classes
are great value for a 90 minute session, and 60 minute Childrens Class.
- GMax Athletes have won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at regional, national and international level in competitions for kickboxing and traditional martial arts.
GMax classes are designed to cater for all levels of ability, boys and girls, men and women, from absolute beginner to seasoned veteran. Choose one of the disciplines listed, come along, join in, get fit and have fun! Classes are Covid-secure and safe, just contact us
with your email address to book your lesson. Once you are booked, come along to the class, wear a T-shirt, jogging bottoms, light training shoes/plimsolls, bring a bottle of water, and enjoy the GMax experience!
All classes include an aerobic warm up, muscle conditioning and stretching. Training will improve your fitness, muscle tone, flexibility, coordination and confidence, whilst learning new skills.
One-to-One Tuition
GMax Coaches
are available for private lessons (maximum 4 people) for £30 per one hour session (subject to distance and venue), daytime, evening or weekends. We can offer training in kickboxing, kung fu and self defence. We also teach workplace self defence courses, so please ask friends, family and employers if this is something they would be interested in.
